Sipping Yerba Mate

Sipping Yerba Mate – A mix of screen print, applique, embroidery and collaged paper.

Sipping Yerba Mate details a personal memory of the artist aged 5, when living in Buenos Aires.

An invasion of mosquitoes amongst a domestic scene depict the everyday but the extraordinary. Beneath the surface lies deep trauma but a narrative that spans decades.

Alongside this a complimentary textile piece which continues the narrative a couple of months later. ‘The Lemon Tree’ tells a story of the realisation of trauma that define a families future in further trauma.
